About

About Caroline (Morwyn and Carolina, too!)

We authors are generally shy folks, more comfortable alone in our offices banging on keyboards than tooting our horns in public.  However, we understand that to connect better with our readers we need to communicate some information about ourselves. So here’s the lowdown on me.

My roots are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, but I now call Boulder, Colorado home. I’m a Latin Americanist with a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Luso-Brazilian Studies. I’ve also lived and worked in Brazil (as a Fulbright fellow), Mexico, Portugal (as a Gulbenkian fellow), Spain, England, Wales, and Scotland, and speak 5 languages. So I guess you could say that I’ve been around the block a few times!

For a while I was a professor at Brown and Pittsburgh universities, but now, keep pretty busy writing books. My official job is as a master intercultural trainer and assessor delivering training programs to business people and their families relocating around the world. There’s never a dull moment at work.

From the picture on this page with its mountain backdrop, you can probably deduce that I live steps away from the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. Just like my sleuth Carolina, I like to run and hike in the Foothills. I also enjoy gardening and remodeling my historic home. If truth be told, I’m also the guardian of five very spoiled cats, two or three neighbor cats, a couple of neighborhood dogs, and a menagerie of squirrels, crows, other birds, foxes, deer, raccoons, and an occasional skunk that manages to roam around the property. Lately we’ve even spotted a mountain lion prowling around–and I snapped a photo of a 1500-pound elk in our garden this winter who tried to charge my husband (he hid behind his Subaru parked in the driveway–I’ve always known they were reliable cars!)

To date, I’ve written 14 books, edited one, and have two more ready to go. Three of my books have won national awards (Colorado Authors League, Book Expo America, and International New Age Trade Show). People often ask me, “Why so many pseudonyms?” It’s because I write in so many different areas. Morwyn writes on the esoteric subjects and sometimes on Brazilian folk religions, Carolina Dow writes Hispanic books in English and in Spanish, and Caroline—well, Caroline simply writes about what interests her, including nonfiction and mystery novels.
